Sea Salt Caramel is not only my guilty pleasure but also my grandmas secret obsession. During the month of October I purchased one too many bags of caramel balls. I had every intention of whipping up a batch of fresh caramel apples each week to give out to friends and family but unfortunately I never seemed to get around to it. With the two extra bags of caramels left over from October, I decided to make some homemade sea salt caramels to share with guests when they stop by. These sweet treats are also a delicious snack to indulge on when my sweet tooth acts up. Homemade caramel sounds like an intimidating recipe to tackle but it can be the simplest process … well that is….. if you cheat and use caramel balls instead of making it from scratch. This simple homemade treat is the perfect gift to bring with you attend any holiday party this season.
Melt Caramel Balls (from Target) in the microwave for 2 minutes on half the power (P5)
Pour into pan lined with parchment paper
Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes
After it has slightly hardened sprinkle Sea Salt on Top
Refrigerate another hour and a half.
THEN …. Follow Instructions Below….
Refrigerate caramel for 1-2 hours until it is slightly hard
Cut the caramel into strips and then cut into small separate pieces
Cut individual piece of wax paper to wrap up the caramel
