Every year I talk to someone I know who “hates” on Valentine’s Day. The most common reason is ….. that they don’t have a special man, woman, or a significant other to celebrate it with. But what these people forget is that Valentine’s Day isn’t about having one special person. Of course it’s an extra bonus if you do have someone in your life, but this day is about LOVE. Up until a couple of years ago I used to dread this day which was always filled with red roses and hearts, but this year I decided to approach February 14th differently. I decided to observe it as a day of love, a day to show your friends and family or your significant other how much you love and appreciate them. A couple weekends ago I had friends over to indulge in red-velvet pancakes and mimosas (host your own brunch this weekend and post photos on my Facebook wall). The second I get back from New York I will be hosting another BYOD (bring your own dessert) + Wine night. As much as I absolutely Love…. Love… LOVE this city, I am excited to get back to San Diego and spend Valentine’s Day with girlfriends. Use thisred-velvet recipe and you won’t be disappointed.
